When Growth Is Quiet: Releasing What No Longer Nourishes
naqam¢u—Bitterroot (Lewisia rediviva).
“I release what no longer nourishes me. Growth can be quiet and still be powerful.”
A Soft Season of Returning
Last week, we found ourselves tracing familiar roads through our homelands—moving between responsibilities, family, and sacred spaces that continue to hold us. We were north for Council meetings, spent time at the hot springs near our enrolled community, and stayed at mom’s, walking ground that carries our family stories.
But the moment that marked the spring equinox for us came quietly—when we spotted the earliest signs of naqam¢u—Bitterroot (Lewisia rediviva).
It was our spring equinox ritual. Not formal or scheduled, just instinctive.
Looking to the land—not only to see what was beginning, but to remember: we’re a part of it.
Bitterroot doesn’t always announce itself. But if you know what to look for, it lets you know it’s there. That first sighting—quiet, low to the ground—felt like a sign. A reminder that emergence doesn’t need to be loud to be meaningful.
Rooted in Reflection
Much of our drive was spent dreaming, talking about where we’ve been, where we’re going, and where we’re meant to place our message. We weren’t just mapping timelines or business goals—we were praying aloud, declaring intentions, and planting our energy across valleys and passes we love.
That trip, that season, that root—it all shaped this reflection.
🌱 Spring is a Teacher
And this year?
She’s whispering instead of shouting.
She’s asking us to:
Listen, not strive
Loosen our grip
Make space
Sometimes, what’s most sacred is what arrives softly.
🌿 Releasing What No Longer Nourishes
There are parts of ourselves we’ve carried for too long:
Old narratives. Unmet expectations. Roles that no longer fit.
Sometimes, it’s the fast pace of life.
Sometimes, it’s fear dressed up as duty.
Sometimes, it’s that quiet voice inside whispering:
“Who do you think you are to want more?”
This season reminds us to let it go—not all at once, not with urgency—
but like the land sheds winter. Gently. With trust.
🌸 Growth Can Be Quiet and Still Be Powerful
There’s a myth that growth has to be visible to be valid.
But so much transformation happens in the unseen.
In the moment you set a boundary.
In the quiet confidence of a yes to yourself.
In the day you stopped explaining and just began being.
You don’t need a “before and after” to prove your progress.
Your presence is proof enough.
🌼 A Gentle Practice for This Season
Write down 3 intentions for the season. Not goals—but inner guides.
Things you want to feel. Ways you want to show up.
What you’re ready to release.
Tuck these intentions into your medicine pouch, under a stone, or into a jar of oil. Let them rest. Let them root.
You are part of this season.
You are not behind.
You are unfolding, exactly as you’re meant to.
🌿 Four Affirmations to Carry With You
I release what no longer nourishes me.
Growth can be quiet and still be powerful.
I honor slow emergence.
I am already becoming.
